AIG Government Scam

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse… it did…

How do you feel about your taxpayer money going towards bonuses for people who can’t do their jobs? Or worse, to foreign countries instead of your own country?

  6. Well then in that case, I wouldn’t say never because it’s perfectly normal for money to flow from one country to another, especially in times of need (you need to look at circumstances). However, the reason why I told you to watch the video, is because AIG got bailout money (taxpayer money), in which they then decided to give their employees over $165 million in bonuses (employees that couldn’t get the job done correctly to begin with), and then gave $62 billion to foreign countries. The reason for the bailouts is to help our own country, and when more of our money is going out to aid other countries, it just doesn’t make sense.

  7. What doesn’t make sense is the government trying to set quota’s and bars for a company that ultimately lead them to fail. We NEED some new economists in Washington.

And as sad it is to see taxpayer money go to bonuses, the government can’t ‘stop’ it. As the guys said, valid contracts need to be upheld. I hear the new gov’t plan is to tax that income at 90%.

  8. I agree, and I was actually speaking in one of my classes about how Washington does need new, QUALIFIED economists, that not only know how to calculate numbers, but use common sense while doing so. And the government’s new plan is just as ridiculous because what they’re doing is looking at the ideas at face, and not counting the aftermath; hence most of the problems with the government.
