Mass Email Fail

with 2 comments

If you’re a big company that sends mass emails to millions of people, the least you can do is proofread the subject line before clicking the “send” button.

And so, this is my first submission to failblog.org:

Original post can be found here: http://cheezburger.com/View/4383706624

Note: “Their” is used to indicate a possession. ¬†“They’re” is a contraction of the words “they” and “are.” ¬†Therefore, the subject should have been, “Get Them Before They’re Gone.”

This Is What Happens When People DON’T Read

with 12 comments

Lately everyone’s been freaking out over the Facebook terms of use, and I can’t help but laugh. Reason being is that before you install any of the applications on your Facebook page, it SPECIFICALLY says that you are allowing everything affiliated with that application to have access to all your profile information. It’s like only two sentences and it’s always been there, so I don’t see as to why people are NOW freaking out about it. Facebook also specifically says that it will never use your information or pictures as a means of advertisement to others (whatever you do only shows up only to the friends you’ve accepted). As far as the messaging goes, you have the same format for your emails: even though you may delete your email account, the person you sent your email to still has what you sent them, so that’s not a new concept.

What you guys should really be freaking out about is the terms of use you’ve accepted but haven’t read with your Google, Yahoo, Hotmail, Photobucket, Flikr, etc. accounts because THEY’RE the ones who have access to your personal emails and have the right to delete you at any time and still keep all your personal information (all your emails, photos, etc.) You’ve all agreed to those terms by checking boxes while creating those accounts. I mean, we all skip reading that stuff because it’s long, dry, boring, and somewhat complicated, but it’s there and it’s something you’ve manually accepted and should take a look at once you get a chance.
